    The Oregon City/County Management Association will be soliciting nominations for three director positions as well as the president-elect position. 

    Are you an OCCMA member and interested in serving on the OCCMA Board of Directors?  

    If so, the application period is open from now until July 30.  Eligible applicants will be considered by the OCCMA Nominating Committee in August.  The committee will then recommend a slate of officers in late August, followed by a special meeting of the OCCMA Board to formally recommend a slate of candidates for consideration by the membership at the OCCMA Annual Meeting held on October 2.

    On behalf of the OCCMA Nominating Committee, eligible appointed city officials interested in serving on the 2026 League of Oregon Cities (LOC) Board of Directors are invited to apply for consideration on or before Wednesday, July 30. 

    Eligible applicants will be asked to participate in a virtual interview with the committee during the week of August 4-8, and August 12. There will be one position for 2026, which will be a non-voting member during the first year of service on the LOC Board, and a voting member in years two and three. In year three the member will also service on the LOC Executive Committee. The applications can be viewed here. Please email completed applications to Claire Wilson at cwilson@orcities.org

    Dear OCCMA,

    Registration for the ICMA Annual Conference opens tomorrow, and registration for the League of Oregon Cities Annual Conference will open in mid-July. Both conferences are eligible for this round of scholarships. The OCCMA will reimburse up to 50% of tuition and travel expenses (capped at $1,500) for members to attend the ICMA Conference and up to $800 to attend the LOC Annual Conference.

    Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:

    • Active and affiliate members in good standing. Members in Transition are encouraged to apply.
    • Interns serving an OCCMA member community one year prior may apply.

    Other Considerations:

    • Past or current service to OCCMA.
    • Future potential of the candidate to make an impact in the profession.
    • Other service to the profession such as city/county management associations in other states, ICMA, LOC, etc.
    • Members of the Scholarship Committee shall be eligible to apply. During an application period when there are more applications than funds, a Scholarship Committee member submitting an application must recuse themselves from the award discussion.
    • Size of community currently serving. Preference/weight will be given for individuals serving small cities under 5,000 population.

    Application Letter Requirements:

    • Eligibility and considerations: demonstrate program eligibility and address program considerations.
    • Statement of need: how will the scholarship make the difference to attend the conference?
    • Attachments:
    • Resume
    • Program information and costs
    • Travel budget if submitting for travel

    To Apply:

    Please send your statement of need and relevant attachments to Claire Wilson at cwilson@orcities.org by August 1, 2025 . The Scholarship Committee will review all applications and make award determinations on August 8.

    Registration for the NW Regional Managers Conference will be opening at the end of the month! The conference will be taking place March 18-21 at the Vancouver Hilton. Under the OCCMA’s Professional Development Program members can apply to receive up to $1,000 to attend the conference. The conference registration will be $450 and the nightly hotel expenses will be $197 (not including taxes and fees). The LOC Spring Conference is also eligible, and members can receive up to $800 to attend the two-day event being held May 1-2 in North Bend.  The LOC Spring Conference registration will be $400 (including the Manager's Workshop), and the nightly hotel expense will be $165 (not including taxes and fees).

    Honoring tradition Dan Huff, Molalla City Manager and 2024 OCCMA President passed on the President’s Lantern to Martha Bennett, Lake Oswego City Manager and 2025 OCCMA President at the Lake Oswego City Council meeting last night. The OCCMA looks forward to a productive and successful year under Martha’s leadership!
