The ICMA Coaching Program offers a variety of resources to support local government professionals at every stage of their careers.
Important Program Update
ICMA is implementing a strategic shift in its Coaching Program. Beginning February 1, 2026, access to the CoachConnect platform will be available exclusively to ICMA members.
OCCMA encourages members who are currently using CoachConnect to consider joining ICMA by February 1, 2026 to maintain uninterrupted access to the platform.
Coaching Resources Available to Members and Non-Members
While CoachConnect will transition to a members-only benefit, several ICMA coaching resources will continue to be available to both ICMA members and non-members, including:

Speed Coaching sessions offered at ICMA’s Annual Conference

Purpose of Coaching Program
As many local government executives retire, the Coaching Program aims to prepare talented mid-career professionals to take their places in senior management roles. Through a volunteer network of experienced local government executives and senior assistants serving as coaches, the Coaching Program aims to:
- Support the professional and personal development of new and aspiring managers;
- Encourage an ethos of mentoring and coaching at all levels in the local government management profession; and,
- Provide opportunities for successful local government managers to share their expertise in ways that are effective, efficient, and personally rewarding.
